The Department is designated as an enquiry point.
o
Mr. S. K. Srivastava, Director (Trade) is the contact person for
the Enquiry Point.
The
enquiry point performs following functions:-
(a)
answer questions related to SPS regulations adopted or proposed in the
country.
(b)
answer questions related to any control and inspection procedure operated
within the country.
(c)
answers questions relating to risk assessment procedure and determination
of appropriate level of SPS protection.
(d)
answers questions regarding membership and participation of the country
or bodies within its territory, in international or regional SPS related
organisation.
(e)
answer questions regarding the membership and participation of the
country in bilateral and multilateral agreement and arrangements within the
scope of SPS Agreement ; and
(f)
supply of agreements to Trading Partners.
(g)
seek information from other Trading Partners.
(h)
send the received rules & regulations,
procedure of other countries to relevant organisation for their comments and
possible implication on Trade.
(i) send comments on the notification/regulations of other countries, if and when required.
